The only thing scary about recent Sub Pop signee Daughn Gibson’s music is how well-crafted it is.  Equal parts Scott Walker, Nick Cave, and Leonard Cohen, Gibson creates an atmosphere that is hauntingly austere, which serves as a platform for his baroque voice.  Informed equally by his career in punk/metal bands and as a long distance trucker, Gibson’s debut All Hell is a streamlined vehicle unencumbered by extraneous instrumentation that is as willing to explore new territory as it is to be introspective.  Marrying pop sensibility with Goth tendencies, songs like “Reach Into the Fire,” or “Tiffany Lou” are somehow both simultaneously haunting and eminently danceable.  Joining Gibson for his first Louisville show are local luminaries State Champion, playing their hometown again for the first time since last spring.  Doors are at 9 p.m., so you’ll have plenty of time to get your trick or treating in before heading out. — Syd Bishop
