LEO Weekly was the first to report back in May that local superfreak Bonnie “Prince” Billy and his sometimes-collaborator, Dawn McCarthy of the group Faun Fables, had reunited to record some songs together.
Now a date has been set — November 20th — for the release of a 7” pairing two Everly Brothers songs, “Christmas Eve Can Kill You” b/w “Walking the Dog”.
A representative for Billy’s Drag City Records says, “The two songs on the single also offer a foreshadowing glimpse at Bonny and McCarthy’s forthcoming full length record of Everly Brothers songs; a project that was inspired by the songstress’ young daughters love of the rhythm and blues duo,” though the country-pop siblings were not actually a “rhythm and blues” duo at all.
The songs were recorded in Nashville with Emmett Kelly, Dave Roe, Kenny Malone, Billy Contreras, David Ferguson, and Matt Sweeney. Recording was done by David Ferguson, and mastering was by Paul Oldham.
