Plugged In returns Aug. 19

Plugged In returns in next week’s issue, Aug. 19. A few key instructions for venues/bands submitting listings:

1. Deadline is THIS THURSDAY at NOON for the Aug. 19 edition. As was customary in the past, Plugged In will cover live music/comedy from Wednesday through to the following Tuesday. So next week’s edition will cover Aug. 19-25, for example. The 8/26 edition will cover all live music/comedy from Aug. 26-Sept. 1, and so on.

2. Here’s what we need, and ONLY what we need, e-mailed to mherron@leoweekly.com:
a. Complete band lineup, including headlining act and opener(s),
b. Time of show (door time is fine)
c. Cost
d. Age restriction (18+, 21+, or all ages)
e. Address and phone number of venue if you are a new bar or club.
f. Daytime cell/contact number for booker, venue or band in case we need to verify any venue information.
g. If it’s your CD release show, add “CD Release” or “album” release to your listing.
h. Include website/MySpace/Facebook link where we can listen to your stuff.
i. Hi-res photo of band. We occasionally include photos with certain listings. There is no pecking order, rhyme or reason to this. It’s purely based on the amount of space we have. But it can’t hurt. Photos must be a minimum of 675 pixels wide and 2 1/4 inches with NO TEXT on them. All pictures must be e-mailed to leopics@gmail.com with “Plugged-In art” in the subject line. While the picture might not appear in the print edition, we keep band pics for use as file artwork for shows/stories in the future.
j. For multimedia shows (shows that combine music and theater, music and art, etc.) if there is a name of the event, send it to us, but we will only list the live music component of the production.

Please contact A&E Editor Sara Havens if you’re pitching visual art, theatre, etc., for coverage. Her e-mail is shavens@leoweekly.com, or (502) 895-9770 ext. 225.

DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES:

1. E-mail a 40-page bio about your band. Please restrict listings to the information above.
2. Include special admission or any other ancillary offerings that have nothing to do with live music. You CAN, however, include drink specials directly tied to the cover charge. For example, $5 cover includes first domestic pint of whatever, is fine. “Free darts” or “half-price appetizers,” not so much.
3. Assume that we will read your Facebook/Twitter invite and take the information from that. You MUST e-mail mherron@leoweekly.com.
4. E-mail us at 2 p.m. on Thursday asking us to include a listing for your show. We are sorry, but we cannot accommodate in this manner.
5. Assume that we will doublecheck the spelling of each band included in the listing. Correct spelling and nomenclature is the responsibility of the act/promoter/booking agent.
6. Send a listing that includes “TBA,” “TBD,” “Live Music.” We do not list generic information.

Thanks,
