Where were we?

Left Tuesday evening on our third ever tour for The End in Nashville. It ended up being a five-band show on the club’s “New Faces Nite.” Winterpills, from Northampton, Mass., and us not being particularly “new,” meant the show was interesting turnout-wise.

Weeknights aren’t necessarily bad, but when you’re basically advertised on a marquis as an open mic show, expect nothing. Upside? The sound guy was efficient and professional; stage mix was a bit shaky.

The crowd was small, attentive and basically members of the other bands who played. One band, from Brooklyn, N.Y., coaxed Matt Chamberlain out to the club. Chamberlain played with the Saturday Night Live Band for a minute, and briefly with Pearl Jam, appearing in PJ’s video for “Alive.”

Nashville’s hard to impress. This is only the second time The Fervor’s played here, though. More times to follow.

Listening to Vess Rhutenberg now at Birdy’s. Somber and beautiful. If you’re near 70th Street and Keystone, stop by.
